DISHING MY LIFE
Recipes & Memories
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to a journey of flavours, memories, and heartfelt inspirations.
In this book, I invite you to explore the rich tapestry of my childhood, woven together with the aromas and tastes of the dishes that have shaped my life. Each recipe is more than just a collection of ingredients; it is a snapshot of a moment, a whisper from the past, and a celebration of the people who have inspired me along the way.
Food has an extraordinary power to evoke memories and emotions. It is a universal language that transcends borders and connects us all. As you turn the pages, you will find not only the step-by-step instructions to recreate these beloved dishes but also the stories behind them—the laughter shared around the dinner table, the comforting embrace of family gatherings, and the lessons learned from generations before me. Each recipe is infused with a sense of heritage, honouring the traditions that have been passed down through my family, and I hope to share that legacy with you.
In addition to the cherished recipes, you will discover adjustments and insights that reflect my personal journey in the kitchen. I believe that cooking is an evolving art, and I encourage you to make these dishes your own.
The beauty of food lies in its ability to adapt and transform, just as we do in our lives. As you embark on this culinary adventure, I hope that the flavours and stories within these pages inspire you to create beautiful memories in your kitchen, just as they have for me. May each bite bring you nostalgia and joy, and may you find the inspiration to share your own culinary tales with the people you love.
Welcome to my world, where every dish tells a story, and every ingredient is a reminder of the beautiful journey that is life. Let's cook, reminisce, and celebrate together.
My journey through life has been far from easy, yet I wouldn't change a single thing.
Many people wonder what they might do differently if they could turn back time. I've been asked before: What advice would you give your younger self? Would you make different choices?
For me, the answer is simple: nothing. Every experience, every challenge, has shaped me into who I am today. I embrace the life I live now—imperfect, yes, but truly wonderful.
I am a proud mother of two incredible sons.
My eldest, Genesis, is 31 years old and a lawyer. He's married to his lovely Vietnamese wife, Ngoc, whom we lovingly call Nancy. She's an amazing woman I hold close to my heart.
My youngest is 21, full of talent and love, brightening our lives in countless ways.
I often reflect on how blessed I am to have such wonderful children, along with my husband, Rick, who has been my partner and anchor for the past ten amazing years.
They are my heroes—the heart of my story and the centre of my world. Without them, this life of laughter, challenges, and love would not be as beautiful as it is.
Above all, I have an enduring passion for cooking. It is my creative outlet, my way of expressing love, and a means of preserving memories. Every dish I prepare is infused with the essence of my heritage and the moments that have shaped me.
As I write these words, I am not only recounting my journey but also reflecting on and rediscovering the flavours that live in my heart.
To me, food is more than nourishment; it is a tapestry of life, woven with stories, traditions, and emotions I am eager to share.
